Keith Dobson

Dr. Dobson is Professor of Clinical Psychology at the University of Calgary in Canada, where he has held several leadership positions, including Head of the Department of Psychology and Director of the Clinical Psychology Program.
His research focuses on cognitive models and mechanisms of depression, as well as the treatment of depression through cognitive and behavioral therapies. He has published more than 270 articles and book chapters, authored or edited 15 books, and delivered numerous conference presentations and professional workshops internationally.
Dr. Dobson’s more recent work has also examined the delivery of psychological treatments in primary care. He has served as a Principal Investigator for the Mental Health Commission of Canada’s Opening Minds program, with a particular focus on reducing stigma surrounding mental health conditions in the workplace.
Alongside his research, Dr. Dobson has written extensively on professional psychology and ethics and has held several senior roles within organized psychology. He is a former President of the Canadian Psychological Association and a Past-President of both the Academy of Cognitive Therapy and the International Association for Cognitive Psychotherapy. He has also served as President of the Canadian Association of Cognitive and Behavioral Therapies.
His honors include the Canadian Psychological Association’s Award for Distinguished Contributions to the Profession of Psychology, the Donald O. Hebb Award for Distinguished Contributions to the Science of Psychology, and the Award for Distinguished Contributions to the International Development of Psychology.
