Representative, New Zealand
AnzaCBT / Aotearoa New Zealand
Dr Ron Chambers is a clinical psychologist from Aotearoa New Zealand who trained at the University of Canterbury. He has more than 20 years of clinical experience, with cognitive behavioural therapy remaining central to his work. He has held senior clinical and professional leadership roles within specialist mental health services in Canterbury and has extensive experience in the assessment and treatment of anxiety disorders and related mental health difficulties.
Dr Chambers has also contributed to research and service development in CBT, including work examining treatments for panic disorder and social anxiety disorder. Following the 2010 and 2011 Canterbury earthquakes, he played an important role in the mental health service response and in developing evidence-informed approaches to psychosocial recovery and disaster preparedness.
He is President of the Aotearoa New Zealand Association for Cognitive and Behavioural Therapies (AnzaCBT) and represents AnzaCBT on the WCCBT Board. Through these roles, he advocates for wider access to evidence-based psychological therapies and greater recognition of CBT within health policy and service planning.
