The Academy of Cognitive and Behavioral Therapies (A-CBT) has announced that Lata K. McGinn, Ph.D., has been selected as the recipient of their Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of her significant and enduring contributions to the field of cognitive and behavioral therapies. This distinguished honor recognizes Dr. McGinn’s visionary leadership, scholarship, and extraordinary local, national, and global impact in developing and expanding access to evidence-based psychological therapies worldwide. Her influence is reflected through her many leadership roles—as Professor of Psychology at Yeshiva University’s Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology; Co-Founder and Co-Director of Cognitive & Behavioral Consultants (CBC); Past President of both the Academy of Cognitive and Behavioral Therapies (A-CBT) and the International Association of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (IACBT); Board Member of the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies (ABCT); Vice President of the Access Psychology Foundation (APF); and most notably, as the founding visionary and current President of the World Confederation of Cognitive and Behavioral Therapies (WCCBT). Through her exceptional vision, scholarship, and global engagement, Dr. McGinn has founded and guided CBT organizations, forged partnerships among professional associations, governments, and the World Health Organization (WHO), and been a driving force in developing treatment and training standards that have helped build a truly inclusive worldwide CBT community. Through her teaching, research, mentorship, publications, and global leadership, Dr. McGinn has profoundly influenced the practice, dissemination, and reach of cognitive and behavioral therapies. Her lifelong achievements embody the Academy’s core values of scientific excellence, innovation, compassion, and global impact.
