WCCBT Global Impact Award
To further the mission of the World Confederation of Cognitive and Behavioral Therapies (WCCBT) and recognize outstanding achievements and contributions to the field, we have established a WCCBT Global Impact Award. Presented during our World Congress, this award honors a professional who has made a significant, demonstrable impact on the global advancement of cognitive and behavioral therapies (CBT) and evidence-based mental health practices.

Our First Recipient: David Clark
Please join the WCCBT at its next triennial World Congress being held in San Francisco in June 2026 to honor Dr. David M. Clark (University of Oxford), who was unanimously selected to be the first recipient of the WCCBT’s newly established Global Impact Award for his seminal contributions to the science, practice, and dissemination of CBT.
Alignment with WCCBT’s Mission
The WCCBT is dedicated to promoting health and well-being through the development and implementation of evidence-based cognitive and behavioral strategies to evaluate, prevent, and treat mental health conditions. The Global Impact Award aligns directly with this mission by:
- Recognizing and celebrating professionals whose work has significantly influenced the accessibility, dissemination, or advancement of CBT on a global scale
- Encouraging innovation, leadership, and dedication in the application of evidence-based practices to diverse populations and regions.
- Reinforcing WCCBT’s commitment to fostering global collaboration and the expansion of CBT in communities in need of mental health care.
Significance of a Global Impact Award
In the evolving landscape of mental health care, certain professionals stand out for their exceptional contributions—whether through research, policy influence, training, implementation, or advocacy. A Global Impact Award:
- Honors Excellence and Impact: Acknowledge those who have demonstrated extraordinary achievements and impact in global mental health through CBT
- Inspires Future Leaders: Serve as an aspirational recognition that motivates professionals to extend their impact beyond local or national contexts.
- Enhances WCCBT’s Visibility: Strengthen WCCBT’s role as a leading global entity that acknowledges and supports transformative contributions to mental health care worldwide.
Criteria and Selection Process
The awardee is an individual whose work has:
- Contributed to the widespread dissemination and application of CBT across multiple regions or populations.
- Advanced the implementation of evidence-based mental health care in innovative and scalable ways.
- Made significant contributions through research, education, advocacy, policy or dissemination that have shaped the global landscape of CBT.
A selection committee, comprised of WCCBT board members, oversee the nomination and selection process, ensuring transparency and alignment with WCCBT’s values.
